Cherokee County Appraiser’s Office has open positions!
This is a non-exempt position with benefits. Salary is dependent on experience. Salary starts at $13.00 per hour. The applicant’s level of experience determines the starting pay, and job title.
The responsibilities may include collecting and analyzing of data relating to the valuation of real property in the County. This position applies sound valuation principles and standard operating procedures when valuing said property and evaluating valuation and classification appeals.
This position may review and update the county database from physical inspection, interpretation of returned questionnaires, and office-initiated reviews. Answers property owner questions relating to property descriptions, valuation criteria, and parameters.
This position defends county values during valuation appeals or protests, compiles and analyzes data related to the setting of valuation parameters, including the monitoring of sales and updating data files. This person makes routine decisions relating to the collection of property characteristic data.
Appraisal experience doing data collection, with exposure to basic appraisal theory and courses is preferred. However, no experience is necessary as there is opportunity to be trained on the job. A Valid Kansas driver’s license is required, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently, and a High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent is also a requirement.
Successful candidate(s) may be required to pass a background check, pre-employment work screen and pre-employment drug screen.
